Trailhead: 4.7 km south of Canmore on the Smith-Dorrien-Spray lakes road
Distance Round Trip: 4 km
Duration Return Trip: 2 hours
What an easy little short hike that is so rewarding. There are two routes on this hike, one is easy and the other a bit more difficult. The difficult one which is not so difficult provides great views of Canmore, and Ha-Ling Peak, as well as a beautiful waterfall. But with our kids this time, we opted for the easy one.
The trail leads to beautiful clear mountain blue lakes. Grassi lakes are really one of a kind with this colour. You can enjoy breath-taking views of Canmore and the Bow Valley. This is a great location for the rock climbers to practice on the climbing wall. Our boys were mesmerized watching them. Who knows! May be they will grow up to be pro rock climbers. Enjoy a little picnic at the lakes, and let the kids play around before you start heading back.
This is a very popular family picnic spot, so the earlier in the morning you can get here, the better!
